Littleton MA Police HeadQuarters

Working as a consultant to the project architect, The Carell Group, Inc. in 2010 Places Associates staff participated in the assessment, design, permitting and construction support for the new Littleton Police Headquarters  the $6.2 million project that was 10 years in planning. The professional services provided included survey, civil engineering, land planning and landscape architecture.  The project involved an on-site sewage disposal system, development of a site plan to support the unique functions and requirements of a police station while leaving remaining land as useable for future development.  The site development included removal of buried foundations, oil tanks, and decommissioning of an existing well.  A portion of the site is located in an area designated as protected Habitat by the Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species program.  The design, permitting and construction documents required nine months from start to finish.  Construction began in 2008 for the new 14,084 square foot building.

Littleton Police Headquarters opened for business on October 28, 2009.  Highly visible in front of the station, is the sign “If you can’t stop, wave.”   It is an historical tribute to the two businesses that previously occupied the land and displayed the sign, as well as a written affirmation of the Littleton Police Department’s commitment to the Town and its citizens.
